Also alarming is that the US's treatment of Gavi has given the UK cover to cut it's pledged funding by 40% "in real terms", because they can now be celebrated as the largest donor.

This is so friggin frustrating and also just so hypocritical because people who immigrate to the US have to prove vaccination status in order to legally immigrate to the US. They have to be vaccinated, and if they aren't they have to get vaccinated before their application will be approved/considered. Clearly vaccination status of immigrants matters to our government for national safety, so why should Americans be treated any different?! ARGH

I am dropping a post tomorrow and mentioned GAVI, seems to be in lockstep with the administration goal of reducing or eliminating help to those countries. Seeing what happened to USAID, another nail in the coffin.

Like you and many others, rather not write about politics but publican health and political are bedfellows. Recall the history of the Broad Street Pump and Cholera, arguably the beginning of public health and also political involvement.
